To strengthen the management of the teaching process, enhance teaching quality, gain an accurate understanding of current teaching conditions, and improve teaching and learning practices, the School of Management held a faculty–student seminar on its mid-semester teaching review on the morning of May 21 in Conference Room 425 of the Zhizhi Building.
Han Kewei, a University teaching supervisor; Zhang Zongxiang, Vice Dean for Teaching; Luo Qiong, Deputy Secretary of the School’s Party Committee; and faculty and student representatives attended the meeting. The seminar was chaired by Zhang Zongxiang.
During the discussion, faculty representatives shared the challenges they had encountered and the insights they had gained in their teaching. Their comments focused primarily on student evaluations of teaching, classroom interaction, and the use of artificial intelligence in the teaching process. They also reported that the serious deterioration of facilities and equipment in the teaching buildings required urgent attention, as it was significantly affecting both teaching effectiveness and students’ learning experience.
Student representatives expressed their views and experiences regarding aging facilities in the teaching buildings, improvements to teaching methods, procedures for requesting leave, examination scheduling, and difficulties encountered in their coursework. They also offered a number of constructive suggestions.
In his concluding remarks, Han said that it was a great honor to attend the faculty–student seminar at the School of Management. He spoke highly of the School’s faculty members for their dedication and extensive knowledge, their ability to explain complex concepts in accessible terms, their engaging classroom environments, and their effective classroom management.
Han also stated that he would compile the comments and suggestions raised by faculty members and students at the seminar and convey them to the relevant University departments, with the aim of creating a sound educational and teaching environment for both groups.
That afternoon, the School held another seminar for student teaching liaisons and student representatives. Students from different years and academic programs shared their views and concerns regarding a variety of teaching-related matters. The School responded to each issue individually by providing explanations and engaging in further discussion.
The School thanked all student representatives for their active and constructive contributions, emphasizing that student feedback is an important means of improving teaching quality and effectiveness. It pledged to give careful attention to every concern and suggestion, ensure that each matter is acted upon, and provide a response to every issue raised.
The School also encouraged all students to adopt a conscientious approach to learning, take the initiative to overcome academic difficulties, communicate actively with faculty members, devote themselves to their disciplinary studies, and enhance their overall capabilities. Faculty members and students were called upon to work together to foster a strong culture of learning and build a high-quality teaching environment.
The series of mid-semester teaching review seminars enabled the School to gather comprehensive feedback and suggestions from faculty and student representatives concerning teaching, management, and services. It further strengthened communication between the School and its faculty and students, promoted sound teaching and learning practices, and contributed positively to the continuous improvement of teaching management and talent cultivation quality.
