Building friendships through sport and advancing together in the prime of youth, the School of Management at Wuhan Institute of Technology successfully held its second FLY CUP Faculty–Student Badminton Tournament, themed “Flying Into Youth, Faculty and Students Moving Forward Together,” at the University badminton hall on May 22.
Faculty members and students gathered on the court to compete alongside one another. Through energetic play and coordinated teamwork, they enjoyed the spirit of sport and strengthened the bonds uniting the School community.
At the opening ceremony, Luo Qiong, Deputy Secretary of the School’s Party Committee, delivered remarks. She stated that sporting activities are an effective means of fulfilling the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and advancing education involving all staff throughout the entire process and in all respects. The badminton tournament, she noted, was not only a platform for participants to test their skills but also a valuable opportunity to bring faculty and students closer together and deepen mutual understanding.
Luo encouraged all participants to incorporate the sporting values of striving for excellence, solidarity, and cooperation into their daily studies and work and to contribute jointly to a positive and progressive culture within the School.
Pi Wuliang, Chair of the School’s Labor Union, announced the competition rules and clarified the standards governing the matches. He called on all participants to observe the rules, compete in a respectful manner, and uphold the principle of “friendship first, competition second,” thereby demonstrating the positive outlook of the School’s faculty and students.
The pre-match warm-up was filled with energy as faculty members and students stretched and prepared together, entering the competition in excellent condition amid an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Once the tournament began, the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final proceeded in an orderly manner. The atmosphere on the court was both intense and exciting, with every participant displaying energy and determination.
The faculty competitors remained composed and employed well-considered tactics, delivering consistent performances supported by solid technical skills. The students competed with youthful vitality and courage, impressing the audience with every leap, powerful smash, and agile return. Shuttlecocks flew rapidly across the courts as the balance between attack and defense shifted from moment to moment, while cheers and encouragement continued from the sidelines.

Following several rounds of keen competition, the tournament concluded successfully. The final results were announced at the venue, and awards were presented to the winning faculty members and students. Congratulations were extended to all participants for their committed performances, together with the hope that they would carry the determination demonstrated on the court into their future endeavors and continue moving forward through dedicated, practical effort.

A single shuttlecock helped build a bridge between hearts, while sport strengthened the warmth and solidarity shared by faculty and students. Going forward, the School of Management will continue to develop its cultural and sporting programs, create more opportunities for faculty–student interaction, and foster a harmonious, energetic, and united campus environment. Through these efforts, the School will support faculty and students as they grow together and advance side by side.
