As spring breezes sweep through the willows and the fragrance of books fills the campus, the School of Management officially launched its Reading Month activities in April 2026 under the theme “Inspired by Books, Pursuing Dreams Together.” The initiative aims to enrich campus culture, kindle enthusiasm for reading among faculty and students, and encourage everyone to develop the habit of reading regularly, choosing quality books, and reading thoughtfully.

A diverse range of engaging and meaningful activities has been introduced, bringing the influence of books to every corner of the campus and making reading one of the most inspiring sights of spring at the School of Management.

One Book on a Journey, Countless Minds in Dialogue

A book-sharing initiative organized by the School’s library marked the beginning of Reading Month. A designated book exchange station was established in the library lobby on the second floor of the Liberal Arts Building to collect quality books no longer needed by faculty and students. From Chinese and international classics to works in the humanities and social sciences, and from professional literature to general-interest books, each volume was prepared to embark on a new journey.

By enabling each book to reach multiple readers, each idea to be widely shared, and each reading experience to be recorded, the initiative has turned circulating books into vehicles for conveying knowledge and warmth while inspiring new ideas through intellectual exchange.

Passing On the Revolutionary Legacy Through Classic Works

The student Party branches of the School organized a reading program featuring classic works on China’s revolutionary history. A carefully selected collection guided faculty and student Party members in appreciating the revolutionary spirit and drawing strength for continued progress.

Drawing on their own academic and professional experiences, participants shared reflections and exchanged insights. Photographs taken with the featured books and heartfelt recitations helped embed the revolutionary legacy more deeply in participants’ minds, strengthen their patriotism, and give these classic works renewed vitality in the new era.

A Small Bookmark Expressing a Great Love of Books

The bookmark-making activity, themed “A Bookmark of Affection, Imbued with the Fragrance of Books,” creatively combined reading with handicraft and allowed participants to create personal mementos of their reading experiences in the One-Stop Student Community.

Cardstock, colored pens, stamps, and other materials were provided at the venue. Drawing inspiration from their favorite books, quotations, and aphorisms, participants created distinctive bookmarks through illustration, collage, and other techniques. These small and carefully crafted bookmarks serve not only as companions to reading but also as expressions of affection for books and vivid demonstrations of the creativity and talent of the School’s students.

Finding Comfort and Companionship Through Reading

The School’s “Mind Inn” launched a book-sharing activity under its “Nurturing Young Minds” initiative, focusing on books related to mental health and providing faculty and students with a welcoming space for reflection and emotional respite.

During the therapeutic reading and sharing session, participants discussed the psychological insights they had gained from books and spoke openly about challenges they were experiencing. Faculty members offered targeted guidance and suggestions, enabling reading to become a source of stress relief and emotional nourishment while fostering a positive and healthy psychological environment on campus.

Capturing Reading Moments and Sharing the Love of Books

The “My Favorite Book and Me” photo check-in activity was held throughout Reading Month and was open to all faculty and students. Participants were invited to take photographs with books from the book-sharing initiative, revolutionary classics, mental health titles, and other works in the library, at their desks, or in other reading-inspired locations around the campus.

Before long, people holding books could be seen throughout the School. Their photographs and sincere reflections came together to create a vibrant atmosphere in which everyone was encouraged to enjoy reading and share their reading experiences.

Inspired by Books, Pursuing Dreams Together

Through its diverse activities, April’s Reading Month initiative has removed barriers to reading and brought books into everyday life. It has enriched the extracurricular cultural lives of faculty and students, fostered a strong culture of reading across the campus, and encouraged members of the School community to acquire knowledge, cultivate character, and nourish their minds through books.

Going forward, the School of Management will continue to provide platforms for reading and establish regular, sustainable reading programs. By allowing the influence of books to permeate the campus and making reading a lasting habit for every member of the School, it will empower personal growth through books and inspire its community to pursue their dreams through reading.
