To further advance mental health education at the School of Management and strengthen students’ psychological resilience and teamwork skills, the School successfully held an outdoor psychological growth and team-building activity entitled “Strengthening Resolve Through Action, Uniting the Power of Youth” at the University athletics field on May 13. Luo Qiong, Deputy Secretary of the School’s Party Committee, attended the event alongside counselors and students from all years of study.
Before the activity began, Luo remarked: “We have brought everyone outdoors today not to add to your burdens, but to offer you a different setting and a different state of mind. Amid the pressures of your studies, we hope you can run, laugh, and cheer, releasing stress through collaboration and allowing your minds to relax in the sunshine.”
At the signal, the activity officially began. The counselors and students were divided into five teams: United Youth, Passionate Companions, Riding the Wind and Waves, Setting Sail for Dreams, and Advancing Together Toward the Stars.
Faculty–Student Tug-of-War: United in Strength and Purpose
At the referee’s whistle, faculty members and students gripped the rope firmly, lowered their centers of gravity, and pulled together with determination. Cheers and encouragement from students on the sidelines quickly brought the atmosphere to a climax. Through this contest of strength and endurance, participants gained a profound appreciation of the principle that unity can overcome even the greatest challenges.
Three-Legged Race: Moving Forward in Step and in Trust
Team members formed groups of three and fastened their adjacent legs together with straps. Chanting “One, two! One, two!” in unison, they sprinted forward in a coordinated rhythm. The activity tested their ability to work together while teaching them to trust and accommodate one another through the synchronization of every step.
Back-to-Back Balloon Relay: Working Together Under Pressure
Participants worked in pairs to carry balloons between their backs. They had to maintain their speed while preventing the balloons from falling or bursting. Laughter, cheers, and words of encouragement filled the field as participants strengthened their communication and teamwork skills in an atmosphere that was both exciting and enjoyable.
Hula-Hoop Pass: Every Link Working as One
Members of each team stood hand in hand in a line and moved their bodies to pass a hula hoop from one participant to the next without breaking the chain. Although the task appeared simple, it required concentration and cooperation from every team member, fully demonstrating the collective wisdom and strength of each group.
After four lively and closely contested rounds, the final results were announced. The United Youth and Passionate Companions teams won first prizes for their outstanding teamwork and consistent performance. The Riding the Wind and Waves team received second prize, while the Setting Sail for Dreams and Advancing Together Toward the Stars teams received third prizes for their determined efforts.
Counselor Guo Xiangyuan presented certificates of honor to the winning teams and commended all participating students for their active engagement and excellent performance.
Going forward, the School of Management will continue to strengthen its “Management with Care, A Home for All” mental health education initiative. By organizing a diverse range of distinctive themed activities, the School will develop a comprehensive mental health support system, enable faculty and students to experience care and warmth through participation, and foster a positive, harmonious, and supportive environment throughout the School.
